Boosting hair growth and stopping hair loss is something everyone desires to do, especially when you consider that it’s one of the most common problems associated with overall hair care. There’s a ton of products available that address the issue of hair loss and hair growth, including oils

such as castor oil, argan oil, coconut oil, etc are just some of them.

In this post we would like to look into oils and their effects on hair growth, and how to select which ones are most appropriate for your hair needs and hair type. Before you buy hair oil, there are some things to consider keeping in mind that not every oil works well for everyone especially when it concerns hair that’s falling out or no longer growing.

The first and foremost factor to take into account when choosing hair oil is the nature of the hair. It will help you determine the needs of your locks and thus, find the perfect oil for them. Here are the basic rules:

✓*For Dry Hair:*

If your hair is naturally dry, try to find oil that can be soaked up by the strands easily. This way, the natural moisture of your strands will be locked and you will get rid of unmanageable, frizzy hair. Make sure that the oil doesn’t only sit on the top of the hair and make it greasy but rather sinks in.

*Best Choices:* Almond oil, Jamaican black castor oil, extra, avocaddo oil oil, etc. Use them individually or in a combination.

✓ *For Oily Hair:*

If your hair is naturally oily, opt for something lightweight that will take great care of the split ends of your hair instead of increasing the oiliness of your scalp. It should not be stronger than the natural oils or sebum produced on our scalp and only a little amount is enough to give you healthy locks.

*Best Choices:* Jojoba oil, argan oil, virgin coconut oil, etc. Individual application of these oils is sufficient.

After hair type, shift your focus to your scalp needs. Try to find out what it actually needs from your oil and pick the product accordingly. The basic rules as follow:

✓ *For Dry Scalp:*

A dry and itchy scalp needs adequate hydration for keeping the moisture balance intact. Get a highly nourishing as well as moisturizing oil that can be used as a topical treatment.

*Best Choices:* It can be any natural oil of your choice.

✓ *For Flaky Scalp:*

If you are suffering from flaky scalp or acute dandruff, pick a thick rich hair oil that will keep the flakiness away and offer great anti-microbial solutions.

*Best Choices:* You can opt for coconut oil for this purpose. More perfect if mixed with teatree essential oils.

✓ *For Oily Scalp:*

Just like oily hair, oily scalp also needs a non-sticky oil that is light on the tresses.

*Best Choices:* Argan oil will be the most effective option for it.

The texture of hair also plays a key role in deciding on the right type of hair oil. Here are the tips that you need to follow for finding the perfect product:

✓ *For Fine Hair:*

If you have fine hair, try to find out an oil that is absolutely light on your scalp. It will not weigh down your hair and hence, your locks will not look limp. Such oils will also offer excellent nourishment to each of your hair strand.

*Best Choices:* Coconut oil and avocado oil are the best friends of fine hair.

✓ *For Thick Hair:*

If you have thick coarse hair, you need something thicker to keep the strands under control. A rich hair oil or butter will help you manage your thick frizzy hair and make it smooth as well as soft.

*Best Choices:* Go for Jamaican black castor oil, grapeseed oil and shea butter to keep your thick hair healthy and beautiful.

Avoid harsh chemical additives and synthetic ingredients whenever possible. These chemical additives may damage hair and cause adverse skin and scalp reactions as well as causing stunted growth and split ends.

Having identified your hair type, scalp needs and hair texture, you can choose to mix an oil to cater to each of your needs to make one rich oil combo for yourself. try it out and you’ll surely see a change in our hair health, growth and volume.
